How to make mitered corners Minimize

How to make Mitred corners
1. Lay the binding on the front of the quilt in the middle of one of the sides of the quilt. The raw edges should aligned together. You may want to leave a 'tail' before you begin sewing, depending on your preferred method of joining the binding ends.

2. Begin to sew using a 1/4" seam and a walking foot if you have one. Stop sewing a 1/4" before you reach the corner. Back stitch two or three stitches. Clip the threads and remove the quilt from the machine.

3. Turn binding strip back over itself to create a 45 degree angle. Crease it with your finger. The right edge should form a continuous line with the right edge of the quilt as shown in the photo. Keep the 45 degree angle crease and bring the binding strip back towards you and align it with the  new edge of the quilt that you want to sew.

4. Begin sewing at the folded edge and continue to attach the binding using a 1/4" seam.

5. When you have finished sewing the binding onto the front, unfold this corner and fold the binding over the quilt edge onto the back. Make another mitred corner on the back of the quilt by folding the corner using a 45 degree angle and then folding it to form a mitred corner. Hand stitch the binding to attach it to the backing fabric.

 How to applique Minimize

1. Trace the pattern for the applique onto double sided fusible webbing.

2. Cut around the approximate shape and then iron the fusible webbing onto the wrong side of the fabric, but with the paper side up.

3. Remove the paper and then place the applique fabric onto the  main fabric that you want to applique the design onto. Press it with an iron.

4. Lastly hand or machine stitch around the edges using blanket stitch.
